How Sexually Transmitted Diseases or Sexually Transmitted Infections are transmitted from one person to another?
While transmission of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) mostly happens during sexual intercourse or some other form of sexual contact, there are some STDs that can also pass to the fetus or through contact with body fluids of an infected person.
STDs are caused by organisms that can live and reproduce in moist environments of human membranes especially in the transitional zones of the body, such as the vagina, vulva and the urethra. Other parts where some STD causing organisms can survive and reproduce include the mouth, oral cavity, eyes and the anus.
