Vaginal Yeast Infection & its Symptoms

Vaginal Yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of a species of yeast (which is a type of fungus) called Candida, most commonly by specific specie of Candida known as “Candida albicans”. It is a very common fungal infection and affects almost 75% of females at least once in their lifetime. Some women may have recurrent yeast infection in which case it can recur up to 4 times in a year. Some other names of this infection are vaginal candidiasis, vulvo-vaginal candidiasis, candidal vaginitis, vaginal thrush and monilial vaginitis.
